What is a bath sheet?
Bath Towel vs. Bath Sheet. A Guide from Crane & Canopy.
If you’ve spent time shopping for bath linens, you’ve likely come across both bath towels and bath sheets in your search. As there’s nothing more luxurious than wrapping up in a plush towel after a hot bath or shower, we’re here to help you find the best choice for your lifestyle and home.
What is the difference between a bath towel and a bath sheet?
So, what is the difference? The main difference between these two options is simple: their size. Bath sheets are larger than bath towels, and they offer increased coverage and absorbency. Here at Crane & Canopy, a bath towel measures 30” x 56”, while a bath sheet measure 40” x 70”. For reference, our bath sheets measure 67% larger than our bath towels.
Now that we know the key difference, read on for more information about which is right for you.
What is a bath towel?
Bath towels are the standard choice for bath linens, so they tend to be more common and are more prevalently used. Though bath towels are smaller than bath sheets, they can be the perfect size for children and adults alike and offer great absorbency. Bath towels are great for drying both your body and your hair, as they easily twist around your head without being too heavy.
Bath towels fit easily onto towel bars and within linen closets, so they are optimal for spaces with little storage.

What is a bath sheet?
A bath sheet has a larger surface area for drying off, so they’re more absorbent than bath towels. If you find that a single bath towel is not sufficient, bath sheets are a better option for you.
They are perfect for wrapping around your body if you need or prefer more coverage. A bath sheet works well if you like to stay wrapped in a towel while drying your hair, shaving, or applying makeup.
Bath sheets take longer to dry and require more storage space than standard bath towels.
In a pinch, a bath sheet can double as a beach towel, which tends to be similar in size. However, a bath sheet is more absorbent than a beach towel.
